magic | boston childrens portraits

It probably sounds corny to say that I dream about photography, but I really do.  I have these vivid dreams where I’m walking in the forest or up a big hill and suddenly I find the most perfect location with the best light.  I’ll look down at my side and magically my camera is there to capture it.

Last weekend my final mini-session of the day was exactly the kind of session I dream about. The setting was lush and green, and the light from the setting sun was sublime.  And from the moment I met Sarah and her daughter, I felt an instant connection, like I knew them already somehow.  Sarah’s mom referred to her daughter as ‘magic’ and this struck me as the perfect word to describe this little girl, with her compelling eyes and an (almost!) unstoppable smile.

This word also perfectly describes the relationship between this mother and daughter. Two beautiful subjects – inside and out – their love for each other so palpable I could barely contain my excitement about having the opportunity to capture it.  I feel incredibly lucky to meet all different kinds of people in this job and to create images for them that will be cherished for a lifetime.  I am sooo excited to share these photos!!!
