Here’s an interesting fact: 99% of the inquiries I get for photo sessions are from women.
Moms, sisters, aunts, grandmothers and girlfriends. The men that do call are usually interested in gifting a photography session to their wife, sister, mom or grandmother. And I can’t tell you how many times a woman will tell me on the phone that her husband is a bit camera shy.
I’m not a guy, so I can’t say for sure why this happens, but I’m guessing most men probably haven’t been in front of a professional camera since their wedding day. Plus, they know it’s really important to their wife to have these pictures taken, and they don’t want to mess it up. Talk about pressure!!
I know it’s not exactly easy to act normal and feel relaxed and handsome all at the same time in front of a complete stranger.
But you know what kind of images never fail to make me ooh and aah when I’m editing a family or newborn session? Yep, the ones with dad and the kids. Dad and his little girl. Dad and his new baby. Maybe it’s because my favorite thing about MY husband is how he is such an awesome dad, that I have such a soft spot for images like these:
Multitasking like no other…
Best ponytails are from Dad…
Don’t worry Dads. All you have to do is be yourself. I’ll take care of the rest.
