“Does she have a favorite song?” I asked, when one year old Sienna was holding back on the smiles during a family photo session at her home.
Immediately, mom grabbed her phone and cued up a song I had never heard before: Mambo Italiano, by Dean Martin. Sienna’s face lit up when she heard the first notes of the song and she started bouncing to the rhythm in that adorable way only a one year old can do…
I couldn’t help but ask how on earth a twelve month old baby had such an unusual favorite song. Turns out Dad started serenading his little girl with this tune one day and she took a liking to it. I was lucky enough to see this sweet performance in action and it was pretty awesome.
If unabashedly belting out a song in front of a photographer he just met isn’t true love, I don’t know what is!

This at home session so relaxed and easygoing. I felt so welcome and it was easy to capture their natural moments together.
Client TIP: If we are taking photos at your home, I’m almost always going to ask if we can take photos on your bed! There’s just something about a family altogether on the master bed that I love. ( Just giving you a heads-up because I almost never make my own bed so I would probably want some advance warning! )
Hello there pretty girl!!
Sienna is just learning how to walk and she’s pretty darn excited about it.
After we finished playing with all of the toys we ventured out into the snow. It was Sienna’s first time really experiencing the white stuff. I think she liked it.

PS: I had never heard of Mambo Italiano before this session, but I might just have it on my iPad now. My kids know the words, too, and it’s hard to hear the song without dancing! Give it a listen.. you’ll be hooked.
