Singing has always been a big part of my life. When I was little, I loved to sing all the time. I can remember waiting for my favorite songs to come on the radio so I could record them onto a cassette tape. Then I would play them over and over again until I had the words memorized. I’m sure I drove my family crazy with my constant singing! Later on, in college, I sang in an all female a cappella group. I spent so much time with this group of girls that they became some of my closest friends… more like sisters. Many of my favorite memories from college are of rehearsing, traveling and performing together.
Making music with another person can connect you to them in an extraordinary way.
I was so excited to find out that the mother and father at this newborn session were introduced to each other through music. They first met because they are both members of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus. They also got married at Tanglewood since it holds such a special place in their hearts. I can truly appreciate having such a unique and sweet beginning to their life together.
I was honored to come to their home to photograph their very first baby.. a boy named Henry.
Sweet Henry, just 8 days old, was such a good boy, and was calm and peaceful for most of the session…
There is something I love about this one though.. newborns love to exercise their lungs…! Mom and Dad seemed so natural with Henry. Amazing that this was just their first time being parents.
I must admit I was kicking myself afterwards for not asking them to sing a little something to their baby while I was there. I guess I will just have to imagine how sweet and wonderful it would have been to witness! 🙂
And of course, a shot of Henry in the Tanglewood t-shirt. I think the odds are quite good that he will have a beautiful singing voice!!
