Welcome to my blog!
Thank you for stopping by. Below you will find highlights and stories from my latest client work. I strive to make all of my sessions relaxing and fun and I pride myself on creating images that are joyful, genuine and beautiful.
I am an on-location portrait photographer living in Needham, Massachusetts. I am a wife and mom of three ( 12, 9, and 3) and I have been photographing families in the Greater Boston area since 2011!
This wonderful family of six lives in my town, and although I had never met them in person before our session, we have a number of mutual friends. After spending time with this family, it struck me how comfortable I felt with them, and how down to earth they are — I can see why we have friends in common! Their oldest daughter, Claire, was about to get braces, so Mom wanted to have some photos taken before that big event! And, of course, she wanted to capture the rest of the family, too, at this time in their lives!read more
As a Boston baby photographer, I am blessed with meeting so many parents and hearing so many stories. Libby & Jeff are two of the strongest people I have ever met. Sessions like this one change your outlook on life because you see two people who have been through so much and continue to be amazingly positive and happy. Libby told me, before I met them during their Back Bay newborn session, that their baby was being delivered via surrogate. I did not know their backstory at the time, and did not realize that both of their babies were delivered via surrogate.
Soon after I arrived at their session, Libby told me she had also just been throughread more
A couple of years ago, I photographed Michelle Wu and her family at the Arnold Arboretum in Roslindale, Massachusetts. Since then, I have continued to meet up with her family as they’ve grown, adding a second little boy, and I most recently saw them this past weekend!read more
I’ve been a Boston family photographer for almost eight years and have worked with so many children and families of all types, shapes, sizes, colors and personalities. Although my clients vary widely, I would say there are definitely a few questions that are commonly asked and I find there are some misconceptions out there about hiring a photographer to take your family photos. I wrote this blog post to bust those myths!!read more
ntroducing Baby Luca! I got to go out to Luca’s family’s home in the greater Boston area just 14 days after Luca was born.
I was particularly excited about this session, because this was my fourth time photographing this family. I was there when Luca’s big brother, James, was born and even got to do his one-year pictures! I love being around them, and I love that they value family photography, too. Because we have worked together several times, we’ve been able to recreate one special images of Mom and James together in his room from a teeny tiny baby until now. I love to see his progression over the years!read more
This family session last October was perfectly timed at the height of the fall foliage here in Boston, and we took full advantage of that at the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts.
Scheduling a Session at the Peak of Boston Fall Foliage
A lot of clients will ask me when the best time is to schedule their fall session if they want gorgeous fall foliage. The problem is that it’s always hard to predict, because the weather can turn on us on a whim. Sometimes, the leaves turn early; sometimes, they turn late. For this family session in particular, we just happened to meet up at the absolute peak of the foliage—and I do mean the peak. Right after we met, it rained, and the leaves fell! Talk about lucky.
Mom had actually gotten in touch with me last year to ask about a family session after following me on Facebook for a while. She loved the personal photos I posted of my own children and wanted something similar. I love it when people find me on Facebook or Instagram because I post a lot of personal stories there. I think that helps peopleread more
This past spring, I was visited a gorgeous family of four at their home on the South Shore of Massachusetts for a lifestyle newborn session.
When I arrived, Mom was feeding little baby Hadley—who was just one week old!—so I spent some time getting to know Dad and Hadley’s big brother, 16-month-old Conrad. Dad used to play semi-professional hockey, so he’s already working hard to teach Conrad (Connie) the ins and outs of the game. He can already swing the hockey stick and hit the puck into the net, but his favorite thing to do, by far, is to throw his hands over his head and shout “GOAL!” So adorable!read more
Last summer, I met up with this lovely family of 5 at the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts for a portrait session surrounded by a gorgeous, lush backdrop.
This photo session was particularly special to me because these beautiful people are good friends of ours. Mom has always said she’s a fan of my work, so her husband surprised her with a gift certificate on her birthday for a photo session. What a great birthday present! Good job Dad! Although, it’s not really surprising he would give such a thoughtful gift. Mom & Dad are both truly caring and considerate people. They’re the kind of people you are always happy to see.read more
“When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest.” Ernest Hemingway
Just leave it to Hemingway to perfectly describe how it feels to live in Boston in the springtime! After months of suffering through the cold weather, we have finally made it to the other side and it feels SO good!! We can open the windows and walk outside barefoot ( well, almost ) and exercise outdoors and play in the yard after dinner. Isn’t it AWESOME??read more
Over the last eight years photographing families, I have found there are certain things that work exceptionally well in helping people relax while I take their picture. One of these things is quite simply making good conversation! This can be anything from talking about where families live, where they work or what they love to do in their free time. Being a bit of a chatterbox while I’m photographing them helps people feel less nervous or awkward and this translates into the most natural images! At every photo session, I search for a topic of conversation that allows me to bond with my clients. Perhaps it is becoming a parent for the first time, or it is the decision of whether or not to raise your kids in the city, or it is simply the latest episode of Top Chef!
At this particular newborn session in Jamaica Plain, I was over the moon to seeread more
Having lived in Roslindale, Massachusetts for almost a decade, I am very familiar with the number one outdoor destination in the area — the Arnold Arboretum. Occupying 281 acres, there is just nothing that compares to the beauty and diversity of trees, shrubs, and plants you can find here. It is a fantastic place for a walk or hike any time of year, but my very favorite time to come is in the springtime! Everywhere you turn there are flowers blooming and it seems like every week brings something new to see. I love to come with my own family for hikes, but it also happens to make a quintessential backdrop for photos. I am so excited to highlight my favorite images from this gorgeous Arnold Arboretum family photo session!

Over the years, I have been inside countless client homes for photo sessions. I love meeting people in their personal space, seeing how they live and hearing their life stories. No two at-home sessions are ever alike, which is easily the best part of my job! I love the thrill of not knowing what to expect when I open a client’s front door and then searching for beautiful light, color, lines and texture. I thrive on the anticipation of what new treasures await me at each and every client home.
I can safely say that the treasures hidden behind this family’s front door wereread more
I always get really excited when I’m going to have a session with twins. I guess I just find families with twins fascinating, since my husband is a fraternal twin and he and his brother could not be more opposite. And I find that this is usually the case with the personalities of twins — one is always a bit more daring, the other a bit more shy, one is more serious, the other more silly. It’s like they split the personality traits right down the middle when they are in the womb!read more
I remember when my first son turned one, friends, family and even strangers suddenly started asking me when I would have another. Apparently, the first birthday is a milestone after which it is socially acceptable to start bugging parents about getting pregnant again! Personally, I couldn’t imagine having another baby right away. I was too exhausted from stressing out over every detail of my son’s life ( can you say helicopter parent?) to consider having another!! But over the years, I have photographed numerous families with two babies under two, and there are definitely some positives to this scenario!read more
At the beginning of the year, a group of friends and I decided to challenge ourselves to spend less….to spend nothing, in fact. We were inspired by a woman in the UK who was frustrated with her unnecessary spending and decided to have a ‘no-spend’ year. (She had such an interesting and amazing experience spending nothing for an entire year that she wrote a book about it.). We each made our own rules about what ‘spending nothing’ would look like and how long it would last. For me, this no-spend challenge meant spending no money on anything except for groceries, gas, utilities, mortgage and any health related bills in the month of January. After 31 days of consciously trying to spend less, I jotted down a few observations.read more
I always love to see returning clients, but I was a little more excited than normal to visit Charlotte & Jack for their one year session this past December! You might remember from reading my blog last year that these very special twins were born at just 27 weeks! I met them for the first time when they had just come home after being in the hospital for several months. You’d never know they wereread more
Living next door to super cool people like this Mom & Dad is pretty great. But when they also happen to have a brand new adorable baby boy, and you’re a newborn photographer it’s pretty much the icing on the cake. Choosing my favorite images from the last 12 months is one of my favorite year end activities! ( You can view the past years “Best of” Lists here) This year, I find myself looking through all the moments and just feeling so darn lucky. It might surprise you to know that just a few short years ago, I was working full time as an analyst at an asset management firm in Boston. I had a challenging, stable career, but I could never shake the sense that I was put on this earth to do something very different.
My whole life I’ve loved taking pictures, butread more
If I had to guess one of the top reasons why people don’t have professional photos taken of their family, I would say that they think it’s too much effort — it requires too much organizing and planning and preparing. Who has time to be picking out coordinating outfits and worrying about timing and location and posing and bribing your kids to smile and all the other details when they are busy running around from work to daycare to soccer practice to the grocery store, etc!! Who needs that kind of stress in their life?
Nobody. And I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that hard.read more
When I receive inquiries for photo sessions, people often ask me to recommend a place to go that has a beautiful backdrop for their family pictures. And I think this request makes a lot of sense — it’s amazing to have your family’s photos taken when spring blossoms are in full bloom or fall foliage is at it’s peak. But I have to say, over the last seven years of photographing families, the sessions at home are almost always my favorites.
This family is not a new client of mine and it’s not the first time I’veread more
The last time I saw this family, they had just welcomed their first baby boy into the family. I loved Mom & Dad immediately because they told me they met through their mutual love of singing. I have a soft spot for singers, since I used to do a fair amount of singing in college ( now I’m restricted to the kitchen, my car and the shower… someday maybe I’ll hit the stage again..#bucketlist)

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you might remember Charlotte & Jack — two of the most beautiful and amazing twins ever. The first time I photographed them, they had just come home from the hospital, after having been born early at just 27 weeks! Their parents were just settling into life with babies and getting the hang of juggling everything that comes with raising twins. What a treat to see them now… six months older and also six pounds heavier! I’m not exaggerating when I sayread more
The clock is ticking… only a couple more days until the kids are out of school for the summer!! Although June is already half over, I thought it would be better late than never to post about some things to do this month (continuing my “Boston Adventures with Kids” series). One of our favorite things to do as a family is make a ‘summer bucket list’. We keep it on a huge chalkboard in our house and friends always comment and even add suggestions when they visit. Maybe this is a little too organized for “summer vacation”, but I’m a big list person and the kids love to check off the items as we do them!read more
The forecast did not look good the morning of this family’s photo session, but grandma was visiting from Canada and we really wanted to include her in the photos so we did not reschedule. At the last second, I told Mom, “Worst case scenario: bring the umbrellas!” And boy, am I glad I did.read more
We recently had to euthanize our 15 year old cat Riley. He was a rescue cat from Boston’s Animal Care and Control Shelter in Roslindale and was (IMO) one of the best cats on the planet. We got him right after we were married so he was with us through all the ups and downs of having three children over the last decade! He was sweet and loyal and soft and cuddly and we will all miss him so much!read more
