The holiday season brings gifts in all shapes and sizes, but this special family received one of very best presents. Not one, but TWO boys! I was so happy to meet up with them at their home just outside Boston, MA for some photos of their twin newborn boys.
In late December, this sweet family invited me to their home in Brookline, MA for a newborn photo session with their brand new little baby girl, Margot.
Margot was 12 days old at the time of this session. She was so adorable and calm during the shoot but because she was a little older, she was very alert as well.
Margot’s mom and dad are first time parents, and I could tell upon meeting them that they were doing a great job. They were relaxed for just having just had their first baby. I remember being so worried all the time when I first became a mom, so I’m always impressed by people who seem to have their act together like this. Those first few weeks can be ROUGH, so it’s always great to see parents taking it in stride!

Dad called me after they had already had Baby Margot. He mentioned being a little last minute on scheduling a photo shoot but I always leave room in my schedule for newborns! It’s hard, especially the first time, to plan and think of everything for when the baby comes. Sometimes, it’s just unexpectedly early. I get it! So, I always save a little extra room on the books for people who need a newborn photographer and are trying to find one in the first few weeks.
The first real baby in the family is their dog Rascal. I loved when he stood up on his hind legs to peek into Baby Margot’s crib, reaching his paw in to give her a little pet. It was an adorable moment between siblings. Rascal was such a good boy and very curious about the new little addition to this perfect family. They’re all so in love with this new little baby girl!
Everything about this home, from the red and white crochet baby blanket to the giraffe-patterned cover in Margot’s crib made this family so much fun to capture on camera. I loved all the little details, including and especially the beautiful new necklace Dad bought for Mom with Baby Margot’s birthstone.

I love coming down to Brookline Village for any kind of photo session and these guys live right near it! They live right next to a wonderful park where they will soon be out walking their little girl. I’m so happy for them and I’m SO glad they asked me to come into their home and capture these wonderful moments. The smile Dad had on his face while holding his baby girl and how Mom held her so close, not wanting to let go, it had me absolutely melting! Such a beautiful family and I wish them all the joy and happiness they can handle as they watch little Baby Margot grow up.

Meet baby Lily! Just a few short weeks ago, I met up with this lovely family at their home in Wayland, Massachusetts to welcome their newest edition. Lily was just 13 days old at the time of her newborn session, and what a beautiful little baby she is!
A Sweet Wayland Newborn Session
This was my second photography session with this family. I first met them last fall for a family session when big brother Graham was just two years old. It was an outdoor family portrait session in the beautiful Massachusetts foliage, so this newborn session in their home was a totally different vibe. It was raining on the day of their session, which I actually love because window light is always so beautiful on an overcast day. And really, the light in New England in the fall is so magical that even on a dreary, rainy day, it’s still perfect for photography.
Having a newborn session in a family’s home is so wonderful for capturing precious moments. It’s all about seeing how a family adjusts to having a new little person added to their life! Mom and Dad were so calm and relaxed during this session — they made having two babies and multitasking look easy!
I started off the session taking some time to capture Graham. When there’s a new baby in the house, I like spending time with the older sibling. Sometimes it’s a hard adjustment, having a new baby in the house, but big brother Graham seemed to be adjusting smoothly to life with a sibling. He was curious and so sweet and gentle. I think he will be a great big brother and will do a great job taking care of his little sister.
My favorite moment was when Graham held Lily in the rocking chair. The light was beautiful. He was so careful with his baby sister. He had a look of curiosity on his face as he smiled at her and touched her hands. One of my favorite images is the detail shot of Graham gently holding Lily’s tiny foot. It was just a precious moment and that level of tenderness from an almost three year old was amazing. I felt lucky to be there to capture it.
It was such a pleasure to photograph this family of four. Mom and Dad, thank you for inviting me into your home to document your beautiful family. I look forward to seeing you all again in the future!
Welcome to the world, Baby Vivian! I was thrilled to photograph this little girl in Back Bay, Boston, just 7 days after she was born.

I already knew this family after having done a newborn session and then one-year session for big brother Miles, so when I heard that they were expecting again, I couldn’t have been more thrilled! I love when families get to experience a boy and a girl (I have two boys and a girl myself) because it’s so interesting seeing the difference between raising boys and girls.
It was so much fun to see how much Miles has grown. This is one of the reasons I love having return clients: I get to see so much more than just those baby milestones. I get to see these kids turning into their own little people! And watching Miles taking on the role of big brother was too fun. One of my favorite images of the whole day was when he read his “big brother” book while Mom was looking on and smiling.

But my favorite moment was probably when I got the most unconventional family portrait that really captured their daily lives. Miles was jumping on the bed, Mom was feeding the baby—this is life for this family, and I wanted to do it justice! After all, this will all be a blur someday, and I want to capture those moments while I can!
This family lives in one of those quaint old brownstones in the heart of Back Bay. It was a beautiful day in Boston, with light streaming in through the windows. We even got to go outside for some family photos on the front steps at the end of the session!
Thank you, Mom and Dad, for allowing me to photograph your beautiful family. It was such a treat to see how much you’ve all grown!

As a Boston baby photographer, I am blessed with meeting so many parents and hearing so many stories. Libby & Jeff are two of the strongest people I have ever met. Sessions like this one change your outlook on life because you see two people who have been through so much and continue to be amazingly positive and happy. Libby told me, before I met them during their Back Bay newborn session, that their baby was being delivered via surrogate. I did not know their backstory at the time, and did not realize that both of their babies were delivered via surrogate.
Soon after I arrived at their session, Libby told me she had also just been through cancer and chemotherapy. She shares her unexpected journey to parenthood on her website, “Our Pea in her Pod.” Libby started Our Pea in Her Pod as a resource to support others who are going through similar challenges. As a Boston child and family photographer, I have heard many stories of how couples become parents. While newborn sessions are always beautiful, the journey to parenthood sometimes can be painful and heartbreaking. Reading through this mother’s story is so moving! Her heartfelt posts mixed with joy and pain is such a wonderful resource to other women who hope that someday someone will call them “Mommy.”
Back Bay Boston Photographer
I have been photographing Boston families for almost a decade and I love at home newborn sessions the most. It is so amazing to meet all different kinds of people, hear their unique stories and photograph them at home in their element. I try to capture their real life in an artistic and natural way. Meeting up in Jeff and Libby’s Back Bay home with their two beautiful children was such a privilege. I love how Libby and Jeff connect. You can see how much love they have for each other.
As the family anticipated little Grace’s arrival, they set up a little “shrine.” It includes pictures of her in utero when as she was growing! I thought it was such a wonderful, loving way to commemorate those months when Grace was growing.
The wonderful surrogate mother who carried Grace for Jeff and Libby crocheted two outfits as a gift to baby Grace. But what an unbelievable gift to carry a baby for another woman. And then to make her outfits by hand, too? There are such amazing people in this world.
Because grace is a ‘rainbow baby,’ Mom bought this blanket after she suffered a several miscarriages. It was special to her to have this image of Grace wrapped in this blanket. A dream come true, a wish fulfilled, Grace is truly a perfect name for this little miracle.
