I have just one sibling, so I can’t say I know what it’s like to be the middle child. But I have heard it’s not always easy. You’re not the oldest, first to try everything and setting the course, and you’re not the baby of the family anymore. You’re always stuck in the middle.
But after meeting a certain four year old middle child this past weekend, I am pretty sure there is a Darwinian process that occurs when you’re the second of three kids. You adapt, forming a wonderfully fabulous personality, so you cannot possibly be overlooked. At least that is the case with Emily.
This is Erin. She’s been a mom for just eleven days. I think it’s fair to say she’s madly in love with her new daughter….

There are a few moments in your life that imprint themselves in your memory forever. Bringing home your first child from the hospital is definitely one of them. The blend of joy, excitement, and “My God, I can’t believe they just let us walk out of the hospital with this tiny person” makes for a moment you won’t ever forget.
This fun in the sun family is easy to write about, because they are good friends and close neighbors of my family. Not only are they wonderful people, but their son is one of my son’s closest friends at school.
The fun in the sun continues with a little boy who wins the award for best facial expressions ever. If you remember the last time I saw this family, you know I have a thing for babies with perfectly round bald heads. I was pretty excited to see that this guy hasn’t added too much hair, but boy has he grown up and is almost starting to walk already! (more…)
