As far as the world can tell, Ezra Jack is the fourth child in this beautiful, warm and loving family. But what is not apparent from appearances alone, is that he is technically the fifth baby in this family. Everybody knows how hard it is to become a parent for the first time, but I think it is equally difficult to transition from having just one child to having two children. I remember how overwhelmed my husband and I felt to suddenly both have our hands full all. the. time. And we longingly looked back at how easy we had it with just one!!
I photographed this family just ten weeks after they welcomed their second baby into their home and I was so impressed with how much they had their act together — certainly more than I ever did after having my second! Maybe two months is the magic amount of time it takes to transition (I’ve completely forgotten!) or maybe these parents are just naturals, but boy was I envious of their level of cool and calm.

It’s that time of year again… time to agonize over choosing my favorite images from a very fun and busy year. This year I get to pick 15 because it’s 2015 so at least that makes it a little easier, but like I’ve said before, these photos are like my babies. It is hard to choose some and leave others behind!!
A couple of weeks ago I highlighted a very special moment between two grandparents and their brand new granddaughter. And I loved so many other images from this newborn session that I just knew I would need to do a full blog post. I have so many favorites!
