The majority of my clients have babies or young children so it was a wonderful change of pace to photograph this amazing family of six ( plus pup makes seven!). I’m simply in awe of parents that have more than three kids! I know how hard it can be juggle everything and these guys make it look easy. When I arrived at this family’s home, they told me right away that their sweet bundle had been awake nearly the whole night before. They were exhausted. And boy could I relate to their pain. Having just had a baby myself five months ago, the memories of those first days home from the hospital with a new baby are extremely fresh in my mind.
The sleep deprivation is brutal and it feels like it will never end. Friends, family, doctors, nurses and strangers on the street all give their advice and remind you that newborns have their days and nights backwards, and that you should sleep when baby sleeps, blah blah blah!! What’s it like to have an at home family photo session with me on a Saturday afternoon? Well, it’s a lot like just hanging out with your family at home on a Saturday afternoon! Maybe minus the walking around in your pajamas in slippers…. although this is certainly not against the rules!

Wayyyy back in the spring I had a newborn session with a cute little man and his doting his parents in their home in Boston. And I created a very special photo/video fusion for this family that I never shared on the blog. Oh, how I love going back and watching these again and again.
I just love the emotion that comes from seeing the video and stills together and set to music. Stay tuned, photo video fusions will be a new product offering for my clients in 2014! (more…)
