When I arrived at this family’s home, they told me right away that their sweet bundle had been awake nearly the whole night before. They were exhausted. And boy could I relate to their pain. Having just had a baby myself five months ago, the memories of those first days home from the hospital with a new baby are extremely fresh in my mind.
The sleep deprivation is brutal and it feels like it will never end. Friends, family, doctors, nurses and strangers on the street all give their advice and remind you that newborns have their days and nights backwards, and that you should sleep when baby sleeps, blah blah blah!! But really, it’s just not that easy to
drop down and take a snooze whenever baby naps!
Despite their tired state, this new mom and dad were cool and calm throughout the morning. They had a great sense of humor and made this parenthood thing look easy.
Easily my favorite image of the day. There is nothing like snuggling with your newborn on your chest. If I could bottle this feeling up and sell it, I would be a zillionaire.
James really preferred to have his binky in, but we were able to sneak it away for a few shots, too… He’s pretty darn cute either way.
Mom & Dad’s first baby, ‘Chorizo’ was happy to be in the spotlight for a minute…!
Hi there!
As a fellow knitter, I can so appreciate the time put into this blanket, made by James’ mother. Nothing says love, like a hand stitched blanket!
The happy family of four…
