It was hot and sunny the day I went to photograph this sweet family of three. I was there to document their baby boy turning one, and as I arrived I could see remnants from his birthday party the day before adorning the back deck.
The last time I was at this house, I was greeted at the door by two bleary eyed parents. James was just eight days old. He was an adorable little bundle but he was keeping his Mom & Dad up all hours of the night. For every parent, but especially first time parents, those early days are so hard and such a blur.
That’s why I love coming back after the first year has passed. I love to see how much the baby has grown, of course, but even more, I love seeing the difference in Mom & Dad. After twelve months of a life with a baby, parents always come out calmer and more confident in their roles. They are usually sleeping through the night, too, which is reason enough to celebrate!!
I think after you survive the first year you can officially be called ‘seasoned parents’ 🙂
Birthday present… I think he likes it!!
Has there ever been a better big sister?
Love. Easily my favorite shot of the day!!
Snuggles and dinosaurs with Dad.
We couldn’t resist grabbing this shot of James, with his newborn photo…
Safe in mama’s arms…
Happy Birthday sweet baby James!!
