Hello!
I’M CARA
I am a Boston Newborn and Family photographer based in Needham. My journey is a winding one, starting in the finance industry, creating a photography business as a side hustle, and finally making the leap to follow my heart and become a full-time professional photographer.
For the last decade, I’ve capturing life’s most beautiful and important moments for families in the Boston area. My images are most often described as authentic, beautiful, joyful, colorful, and unique in composition.
New in 2022! I have a studio in Needham, MA where I create intimate maternity portraits, family portraits, puppy portraits, professional headshots and more! You can find me at Gorse Mill Studios, 31 Thorpe Road, Studio #104 on most weekdays.
I am the co-founder of The Front Steps Project, a global social movement that has raised over $4 million dollars by photographing families in isolation during COVID-19 on their front steps in exchange for donations to local organizations and nonprofits.
I live with my husband, our three children and our very active rescue dog!!
I would love to hear from you! Get in touch to find out more about me, my approach to family photography and ways to schedule your session.

Where are you located?
I am a Boston Family Photographer. I host maternity, newborn and family sessions in the city of Boston and its surrounding suburbs, including Brookline, Newton, Needham, Wellesley, Dover, Medfield, Weston and more.
What type of photography do you offer?
I specialize in capturing images that tell an emotional story of becoming and raising a family. My images are colorful, authentic, and natural. I do not use a lot of props and prefer to capture you as you really are, whether we are playing in your backyard at your home, going for a walk on the beach, or hanging out at your favorite park. My goal is to showcase the love and connection in your family. When surveyed, my clients have described my work as: real, timeless, natural, colorful, spirited, emotional, joyful, beautiful and unique.
I am not a large event or wedding photographer, but long-time clients have hired me for intimate family events, such as anniversaries or family reunions.
How far ahead do I need to schedule with you? How far do you book out?
Do you help in planning the session?
When you book your session with me, you will fill out a session registration form that asks a variety of questions so I can best understand your hopes for our session. We’ll also chat on the phone so we can discuss clothing options and select a location you feel is best for the personality and mood of your family.
What is included in my session fee?
My session fee is $350. This includes pre-session consultations via phone and/or email to plan and prepare as well as my time on our session date and the post-processing of all session images. Every client receives a personal online viewing gallery of 40+ images edited in color and black & white.
How long do I have to order once our portrait gallery is live?
Portrait and image galleries are active for one week. I will notify you when your images are ready to ensure you are ready for your ordering window to begin.
What does your average client typically spend?
I do not require a minimum product purchase. I want you to buy only what you love! That said, most clients typically spend anywhere from $500-$2000 after their session (not including the session fee) on prints, photo albums and more. Please email me for a detailed list of products and pricing.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept session fees via Paypal, Venmo (@Cara-Soulia), credit card over the phone, or via check.
Where can I see more examples of your work?
The best place to see my recent work is on my blog. Or, you can email me and I will send you sample galleries or direct links to blog posts that are similar to your family so you can get a feeling for my style of photography.
