So many are set for us, right? Birthdays, graduations, marriage, births. I spend a lot of time capturing life’s milestones for families aiming to preserve their memories.
This year, I’m celebrating many of my own milestones. And, in achieving one of those milestones – an all-new CaraSoulia.com – I had the pleasure of reflecting on ten years as a Boston Area Family Photographer!
How do I feel? Super proud.
Boston Area Family Photographer
Ten years ago, with two kids heading into school age, I decided to take a leap and turn my interest in photography into a business.
As any entrepreneurial mother will tell you, building a business while raising a family requires an interesting combination of tenacity and patience. Add another pregnancy and birth to the mix, and suffice to say that I have taken very few breaks over the last decade.
But this past January, I took one. Not only did I need it after my busiest and most successful year ever, but I’ve learned the value of an emotional recharge and annual assessment of business and personal goals.
A month with a lighter calendar gave me time to celebrate my wins in 2021:
~ Photographing a record 110 families as they celebrated pregnancies, births, milestones and life itself…
~ Launching a separate division of my business dedicated specifically to school photography. In 2021, I photographed almost 1000 students including my first 500+ student school! (and PSSST, I have room for 1-2 more small schools on my calendar this spring!)
~ Realizing that I am majorly in love with intimate events such as small birthday parties, private mitzvahs and important anniversaries. These celebrations are where I feel like I have strike gold in my search for authentic, emotional moments.
The break also gave me mental space to envision my next five years and make commitments to more growth (more coming on that soon!).
It gave me time to pour through thousands of images of families that I have photographed over the years. I loved reflecting on years of growth for me and every single person in those images.
So. Many. Milestones.
Thanks to consistently hustling, learning, and drinking *lots* of water and coffee, I’m fulfilling a dream created ten years ago. A thriving business poised for more growth, three beautiful children, and a kind husband keep me motivated every single day. Witnessing the joy and love in my clients’ lives fuels me to keep building connections.
I hope you’ll visit my new web site and share in my joy and the joy of others.
