Did you ever meet someone for the very first time, but feel like somehow you have known them forever? It was kind of like that with Karen.
From the very first phone call, I felt like I was talking to an old friend. We swapped stories about our pregnancies, our babies, and the trials and tribulations of being sleep deprived parents. I was so excited to finally meet her in person after she gave birth to her second daughter. I arrived at their home for our newborn session and met big sister Lila and her dad at the front door. It made perfect sense that Karen’s husband Matt was just as warm and easy going and she was. What a beautiful, down to earth family of four. I truly feel so lucky to have met them.
This post is pretty image heavy. I had a really hard time narrowing down my favorites! We spent a lot of time in the master bedroom where the light was beautiful. And I love this sign over their bed so much. This Bruce Springsteen song was their first dance at their wedding. So sweet!
Big sister Lila was just a few days shy of turning two. She was, like most two year olds, curious and sweet. She loved telling me there was a baby and pointing to her sister Isabelle. She even sang rock a bye baby to her new sister. Cue the melting hearts….
Karen’s own mother rocked her in this chair when she was a newborn. What a wonderful family heirloom.
Matt is clearly a natural at being a dad. And although he’s completely outnumbered in the house now, he loves his girls.
We were lucky to be able to go outside for a few minutes because the weather was so nice.
It meant including the family dog ‘Hoot’ in a few of the frames and checking out the beautiful lilacs on their property…
I know it’s 80 degrees out. Go ahead… you can wear your ushanka. Because you’re two and you’re adorable :
Welcome baby Isabelle. Your family is amazing. You are one lucky little girl.
