Fresh haircuts, clean outfits, a sense of being “new” or “older”. Picture Day brings excitement (and a little bit of chaos) to every child, classroom, school and family every single year. It’s an often unrecognized but markable annual tradition for millions of families.

Judging from the amount of calls, texts and emails I receive every October, school photos are a must-do ritual that leaves most parents grunting and groaning as they pay for the obligatory photo package.
I know the feeling. I can still remember the pit in my stomach and the absolute disappointment when my son (now 16!) brought home his kindergarten photos. He had started school and our family was giddy with excitement for this new phase in our lives. But, ugh, the photos were BAD. Really bad.
And other parents agreed.
I connected with his teacher and offered to come in and take photos in the classroom. I took photos of each child and spent time capturing their personalities, and I realized I loved being a Boston School Photographer and other parents loved it, too.
I offered to the same at my daughter’s daycare, and C Jane Go Photo was born.
Ten years later, my school portrait business is thriving!
