Last summer, I met up with this awesome crew at the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts for a family photo session in one of my favorite local spots.
This photo session was particularly special to me because these beautiful people are good friends of our family! Mom has always said she’s a fan of my work, so her husband surprised her with a gift certificate on her birthday for a photo session. What a great birthday present! Good job Dad! Although, it’s not really surprising he would give such a thoughtful gift. Mom & Dad are both sweet, caring and considerate — they’re the kind of people you are always so happy to see.
I always make sure we get at least one awesome everyone-look-at-the-camera-shot. I think they nailed it, right??
Obviously the baby of the family made some sort of funny comment here….
Arnold Arboretum Family Photo Session
I was especially excited for this session because, in addition to getting to photograph friends of mine, I was able to share with them one of my favorite places: the Arnold Arboretum. I’ve been shooting there for almost a decade, so I know plenty of hidden gems and nooks and crannies for those perfect shots. In the summer, it can be very green, but there were still some yellow and purple flowers blooming on the day we were there. I think one of my favorite shots of the day is the whole family surrounded by the flowers. I also love seeing the family next to the huge trees!
At one point, Dad suggested that the kids walk along this stone wall. When I saw the symmetry of the trees on either side of them, I knew this image would be a favorite. Sure enough, when I went to their home after this session, I found this picture proudly displayed on their living room wall! Hurray for printing your images!
Needham Family Photography
One of the best parts of doing family photography is seeing the interplay between siblings. Even if there’s a little sibling rivalry here and there, it’s so rewarding to be able to capture the genuine affection and love that they have. These three were high-energy, but super well-behaved, even if they were a little nervous at first. But once they started to loosen up and let their personalities show, I think everyone had fun. That face!!
Thank you so much for trusting me with your family photography! I loved creating these images for you!
