The holiday season brings gifts in all shapes and sizes, but this special family received one of very best presents. Not one, but TWO boys! I was so happy to meet up with them at their home just outside Boston, MA for some photos of their twin newborn boys.
Massachusetts Twin Newborn Session
One of the things I love best about being a photographer is staying in touch with my clients. For this family, I got to meet them during their maternity session and I was so excited to come back to meet their newborn boys. Mom and Dad are the sweetest people. I couldn’t wait to get the call that they had welcomed their twins. They knew they were having boys, but as first time parents, it is a bit nerve wracking not knowing what to expect. To top it all off, they were having two babies at the same time! Exciting and a tiny bit scary!
I went to their home just outside of Boston for the session about three weeks after the babies were born. They were in the middle of getting ready when I got there, so I just captured everything I could in a beautiful natural way. Being able to be there to quietly document them as they learned their new normal was so special. From feeding, burping and diaper changes to finding the way their boys like to be wrapped and held, it was so beautiful to get to see Mom and Dad learning their new roles.
In fact, one of my favorite moments of the day was when they were feeding the boys. Mom and Dad were feeding the babies bottles on their bed, smiling and laughing with each other. At one moment, I captured a shared glance between the two of them. It was a look of both love and triumph. Such a look of ‘we did it!’ and a feeling of ‘we are an awesome team and can handle anything.’
At the end of their session, we made sure to include a few shots with their “first baby,” their beautiful dog. It was important that we get a portrait with the whole family! Speaking of dogs, the twins and their grandfather were both born in the Chinese cultures Year of the Dog. Each of the boys have special dog necklaces from their grandfather. It was so special to Dad to have these necklaces from their grandfather included in their images.
I have SO many favorite photos from this newborn session. It is really hard to narrow down. I love the way mom and dad look at each other, and these two little newborn boys are already so expressive! I love the expressions they share. Really, I just feel so happy for this couple. They seem like such wonderful people, and it truly filled my heart to be able to create these beautiful images of such a special, fleeting time in their lives. Sessions like these are such awesome reminders of why I love my job as a newborn photographer so much!
