This is the time of year when I pinch myself almost every day. As a Wellesley Newborn Photographer, I can’t believe how lucky I am to meet so many families when they’re experiencing one of life’s greatest joys: Welcoming a new baby.
Wellesley Newborn Photographer
I met Baby Shae and her big brother, Bennett, 3, shortly after her birth this summer. Shea was sweet as could be and clearly the apple of her father’s eye.
Newborn sessions are quite simple. I know that may sound like a surprise, especially for first-time parents. But, with ten years of experience as a Wellesley Newborn Photographer, I’ve rarely had a difficult newborn session.
Read on for what makes newborn sessions so enjoyable.
Well, based on Bennett’s smile, you might think it’s the sibling! Yes, sometimes it is!
Siblings are already enamored with their new family member. They’re thrilled that someone is coming to see what’s going on with this new baby. Most are looking for attention themselves, too. I am here to give some. Remember: I have three kids, too.
But what really makes a newborn session so lovely? The simplicity.
Newborn sessions are best done at home. Most of the time is spent inside. With nice weather, we’ll hop outside (especially if other children have energy to spare), but the majority of the time is spent capturing your new one and the surroundings of your life right now.
We’re capturing the memory of Today.
No need to have a spotless house. No need for one special spot for photos.
When I arrive, we’ll walk around and find the spaces that work best for light. We’ll find the items or areas you want to make sure we capture.
We’ll take our time.
What will Shae and Bennett’s parents remember when they reflect on these images?
The excitement of a new baby sister. A new home, almost headed into a renovation. The exuberance of the neighbor’s trampoline!
Will they see the love from when their family was just getting started? Will they remember the simplicity and joy of this day? I hope so.
