The forecast did not look good the morning of this family’s photo session, but grandma was visiting from Canada and we really wanted to include her in the photos so we did not reschedule. At the last second, I told Mom, “Worst case scenario: bring the umbrellas!” And boy, am I glad I did.

The moment I walked through the front door of this family’s home, I knew we were going to have a great session. These first time parents were as calm as could be and so in love with their sweet baby Caroline. Their house was full of great light and simple, elegant decor which made creating beautiful images an easy task. It also didn’t hurt that Caroline was cute as a button and very happy and alert for almost the entire session!

I have been taking school pictures at Boston area preschools for the last five years and in that time I have created portraits of hundreds of beautiful little people. Despite the fact I have consistently received rave reviews from parents about the children’s images, I find that school administrators still have uncertainty about switching to a new photographer or walking away from traditional big box school portrait providers.
The last time I saw this family, their baby boy was just a a week old! How fun it was to come back to this awesome Back Bay apartment again to capture some new memories a full year later. I always love to see how much babies grow over their first year, but even more, I love to see how much couples transform into seasoned parents, at ease in their roles as Mom and Dad.
