Home is where the love is… | Family Photographer Massachusetts

When I receive inquiries for photo sessions, people often ask me to recommend a place to go that has a beautiful backdrop for their family pictures. And I think this request makes a lot of sense — it’s amazing to have your family’s photos taken when spring blossoms are in full bloom or fall foliage is at it’s peak.  But I have to say, over the last seven years of photographing families, the sessions at home are almost always my favorites.

This family is not a new client of mine and it’s not the first time I’ve

I don’t know what it’s like in your house, but when I tell my kids they are going to visit their cousins, an onslaught of squealing, shrieking and crazy bouncing off the walls immediately ensues. I suspect something similar happens for the family in the images below. These cousins were all together for Easter weekend and one of the moms invited me to

The last time I saw this family, their baby boy was just a a week old! How fun it was to come back to this awesome Back Bay apartment again to capture some new memories a full year later. I always love to see how much babies grow over their first year, but even more, I love to see how much couples transform into seasoned parents, at ease in their roles as Mom and Dad.

Here’s a fun before and after

I met this Brookline family through my school portrait program a few years ago and am so happy that they have become a regular family client. They opted to have their photo session at home, which I loved because we were able to easily shift from posed photos on the front steps to candid shots on the backyard trampoline in just a matter of moments!

The vibe from these guys is just what you might expect from

The twin boys in this family attend a preschool where I take school portraits and I was honored to photograph their family last summer at one of their favorite stomping grounds (and mine!), the Arnold Arboretum.

My husband has a fraternal twin brother, so I have a soft spot for parents with twin boys. One thing that never ceases to amaze me is just how different twin personalities can be, and these sweet little boys were no exception

One of the things I love about my job is that I’m sometimes connected with a family in one capacity and then given the opportunity to photograph some other aspect of their lives. In this case, my work taking school portraits introduced me to this gorgeous family of five. We chose the Arnold Arboretum, where they frequently go for walks together, as the backdrop for their family session.

When a mutual friend introduced me to this family’s mama, it was love at first sight. Earlier this year, I was at my friend’s annual Kentucky Derby party and this beautiful lady and I happened to have on the biggest (and best, if I do say so myself) hats at the party. It was destiny that we should meet! We started chatting and one thing led to another and the following weekend I was photographing her family at the Arboretum. We were lucky that the lilacs and a few other trees were still in bloom!
