I’ll be honest with you, finding the perfect newborn or family photographer in Boston is a tough job. There are so many talented professional photographers in the area and such a variety of styles and personalities to choose from–selecting the right photographer for your family photos can be confusing and overwhelming. To help with your decision, I thought I’d let you know what you can expect if you decide to hire me for your family photo session.
You might recognize this gorgeous couple from their maternity session I posted a couple of weeks ago. They were expecting their first baby and didn’t know if it would be a boy or a girl. I was convinced it was a boy, but sure enough, they had a beautiful baby girl.

Meet Charlotte and Jack. You’d never know it by looking at them now, but they weighed just over 2 pounds when they were born at 27 weeks. After a very long and emotional couple of months, they are both finally home with their Mom & Dad, and are tipping the scales at over 12 pounds each!
Before I became a photographer, I had this notion that I wanted to be a nurse. I have an old drawing I did when I was a little girl that says, “I want to be a nurse when I grew up so I can help people.” And after I became a mom, I thought quite seriously about pursuing a career as a labor & delivery or a postpartum nurse. Like many others, my experiences with the nurses before, during and after the delivery of my three children were, quite simply, amazing. These women play such an important role at a most vulnerable time in our lives. It feels like our birth stories aren’t complete without the mention of the wonderful nurses at our side throughout. For as long as I can remember, I have longed to have a career that was as fulfilling as being a nurse.

Lucky me, I got to photograph this beautiful family for the third time as they welcomed home their second baby, a sweet boy named Marco. I love their cozy home, which is full of big windows and amazing warm light. ( And it doesn’t hurt that they are super relaxed and just plain ol’ happy people )
Just over five years ago I officially opened my photography business. Since then, I have photographed hundreds of beautiful mamas and their children. I am so incredibly blessed to have been connected to these amazing women, many of whom, are now my friends. You should have seen me looking through these old photos, grinning from ear to ear and “Awwww”-ing at my computer screen. My, how some of these babies have grown!!
As far as the world can tell, Ezra Jack is the fourth child in this beautiful, warm and loving family.
But what is not apparent, is that he is technically the fifth baby in this family. Ezra is a “rainbow baby”
When Dad inquired about having a photo session with his newborn son, he made a point of telling me that their home was small. He was concerned about whether there would be enough space to create beautiful photos. I told him not to worry — as long as he had a window in his house we would be OK. In fact, sometimes I feel it is easier to create stunning images in smaller spaces. There are less options for different settings, of course, but there are also less distractions and the focus is on what’s really important.
